SO THE CITY IS WORKING WITH A CONSULTANT TO EVALUATE, UM, OUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO ENSURE THAT THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PLAN, UM, CONTINUES TO BE RELEVANT. THE, THE PROCESS WILL FOCUS ON PROVIDING A VISION FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT OF VACANT LAND AND THE KEY CORRIDORS THAT WE HAVE IN THE CITY. UM, THIS IS A TOP PRIORITY FOR BOTH CITY COUNCIL AND STAFF. SO THE TIMELINE WOULD BE NEXT FOUR MONTHS. THE STUDY AREA, AS I MENTIONED, WOULD INCLUDE THE KEY CORRIDORS THAT WE HAVE IDENTIFIED IN THE CURRENT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, AS WELL AS THE VACANT PLAN THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE. WE ARE LOOKING AT, UM, JOINT PNZ, UH, AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMING UP IN JULY. UH, I THINK THE TENTATIVE DATE WE HAVE IS JULY 18TH UNTIL, UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES. THE PROCESS WILL INCLUDE PUBLIC INPUT THROUGH STAKEHOLDER INTERVIEWS AND FOCUS GROUPS, AS WELL AS PUBLIC COMMENT SESSIONS DURING THE JOINT MEETINGS. UM, THE, THE, WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH IS HAVING A NEW VISION PROVIDED FOR THESE KEY AREAS IN TERMS OF DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT, AND ALSO RECOMMENDATIONS IN TERMS OF DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS AND OTHER POSSIBLE, UM, ACTIONS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THAT VISION OR, UM, ARRIVE AT THAT VISION. AND IT'LL GIVE A DIRECTION, AND IT WOULD BE, WE ARE LOOKING AT, RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON INDIVIDUAL PROPERTIES, A COLLECTIVE VISION AND OVERALL PLAN THAT IS ALL TIED TOGETHER, UH, IS WHAT THE GOAL IS, UH, WITH THE , DID I ANSWER THAT QUESTION? ? UM, SO, YOU KNOW, UH, RIGHT NOW WE DON'T HAVE A, UM, A SPECIFIC CALL OUT FOR TOBACCO RELATED BUSINESSES. THEY'RE RETAIL SERVICES. THEY'RE ALLOWED IN MOST OF OUR RETAIL DISTRICTS. UM, IF YOU LOOK AT THE CHART THAT'S PROVIDED WITH, UH, SOME OF THE BUSINESSES THAT ARE SHOWN ON THE MAP, UM, THE MAJORITY OF THOSE ARE IN LC TWO, UH, RETAIL DISTRICTS. AND SO THAT'S, YOU KNOW, COMMERCIAL AREAS ALONG TEXAS PARKWAY CART, RIGHT? 10 92, HIGHWAY SIX, UM, OUR MAJOR, YOU KNOW, KIND OF COMMERCIAL CORRIDORS. UM, SO, UH, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE POPPING UP IN SHOPPING CENTERS, UM, FREESTANDING BUILDINGS OR ANYWHERE WHERE, UM, YOU KNOW, THAT COMMERCIAL ZONING, UM, ALLOWS, UH, FOR COMMERCIAL USES. UM, WHAT, UH, SOME OF THE LOCATION, UM, ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION ARE THINGS LIKE, WE HAVE ONE IN PARTICULAR THAT'S OPEN 24 HOURS. UM, AND SO THERE COULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN, UM, IN TERMS OF, UM, THE, UM, UM, CUSTOMER BASE THAT IS BEING ATTRACTED OVERNIGHT, UH, TO THAT PARTICULAR, UH, LOCATION. WE HAVE ONE THAT'S IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO, UM, A INDOOR, UM, CHILDREN'S CENTER. UM, THAT, UH, RECENT CONCERNS HAVE BEEN IN THE SUMMER HOURS MAY BE, UH, UTILIZED FOR, UH, TEENAGERS OR, YOU KNOW, OLDER KIDS THAT, YOU KNOW, NEED SOMETHING TO DO FOR THE SUMMER. UM, AND SO THESE LOCATIONS ARE, UM, POSSIBLY, UM, CAUSING SOME CONFLICTS, UM, THERE POTENTIAL, UM, FOR CONFLICTS. UM, SO, YOU KNOW, NOT TO SAY THAT, YOU KNOW, THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, UM, BUT JUST, YOU KNOW, SOME CONCERNS THAT, UM, HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION. UM, SO IF YOU'RE NOT AWARE, YOU KNOW, THE CITY DOES HAVE A SMOKING ORDINANCE IN TERMS OF THE PROXIMITY, UH, THAT, UH, SMOKING IS PROHIBITED WITHIN CERTAIN AREAS. UM, BUT IT DOES NOT PROHIBIT SMOKING WITHIN, UM, COMMERCIAL OR, UM, PRIVATE, UM, FACILITIES. UH, THERE'S CERTAIN STANDARDS, CERTAIN, UM, UH, UH, FILTRATION THAT THEY HAVE TO, UM, PUT INTO PLACE, WHICH IS WHY, UH, SOME OF THESE ARE ABLE, UH, TO OPERATE AS, AS SUCH. UM, SO WHAT WE WANT TO, UH, EXPLORE IS POSSIBILITY OF LOOKING AT, [00:25:01] UM, STRONGER REGULATIONS IN TERMS OF OUR SMOKING ORDINANCE, UM, AND OR REGULATIONS IN TERMS OF LOCATION, UM, OF, UH, THESE, UH, TYPES OF BUSINESSES. UM, I ALSO THINK THEY SHOULD CONSIDER HOW THEY WANT ANY BUSINESS THAT OPERATES IN THE CITY, UM, THEIR HOURS OF OPERATION, I THINK THEY SHOULD SET A STANDARD, UM, SO THAT WAY THEY CAN FALL BACK ON THAT AS A BEST PRACTICE TO WHERE BUSINESS OWNERS DON'T FEEL SINGLED OUT.
