YOU'VE HEARD US TALK A LOT ABOUT SOME OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL AND OPERATIONAL CHANGES THAT WE'VE BEEN MAKING, REDIRECTING OUR PARKS CREWS FROM TASK BASED TO GEOGRAPHICAL BASED, AND INSTILLING AN ORIENTATION PROGRAM, A COUPLE OTHER THINGS THAT WE REALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON. AND SO WITH THAT, WE DECIDED THAT MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST MAKE IT ONE LARGE PROCESS AND MANUAL INSTEAD OF DOING ALL OF THESE SMALLER LITTLE THINGS AND EXPECTING OUR STAFF TO KEEP UP WITH 80 DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS AND AND US UPDATE 80 DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS. SO WHAT WE DECIDED TO DO WAS TO CREATE A PARKS AND RECREATION STAFF MANUAL. AND THIS WAS FOR A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT REASONS. ONE, WE WANT SOMETHING IN WRITING TO HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE AND TO LAY OUT THEIR EXPECTATIONS. IT'S HARD TO HOLD SOMEBODY TO EXPECTATIONS IF YOU NEVER DEFINE THEM, AND IF YOU NEVER REVIEW IT WITH THEM, AND IF YOU NEVER RETRAIN THEM ON IT. AND SO THAT'S WHAT THIS DOCUMENT IS. OUR DRESS CODE AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE. PERSONAL APPEARANCE IS ACROSS THE BOARD. DRESS CODE IS VERY BASED ON NOT JUST THE DIVISION YOU'RE IN, BUT THE JOB YOU'RE DOING RIGHT. YOU'LL SEE OUR RECREATION TEAM IN SHORTS AND A T SHIRT OCCASIONALLY, AND THEY'RE IN UNIFORM. YOU'LL SEE THEM IN SLACKS AND A BUTTON DOWN, AND THEY'RE IN UNIFORM, AND IT'S VERY DEPENDENT ON WHAT THEY'RE DOING THAT DAY JUST BECAUSE OF THE INDUSTRY THAT WE'RE IN. BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET A TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT BUDGET. BUT IF YOU'RE REQUIRED TO HAVE CERTAIN CERTIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION YOU'RE IN AND YOU'RE STILL WORKING TOWARDS THEM, BUT THIS OPPORTUNITY ONLY COMES UP EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. AND SO IT'S REALLY FOR THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT TO BE ABLE TO PRIORITIZE, TO BE EQUITABLE IN OUR DECISION MAKING, TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR DIDN'T GET APPROVED FOR TRAINING. AND THAT COULD BE EQUIPMENT, THAT COULD BE A SOFTWARE, THINGS LIKE THAT. SO ALL OF THAT IS CONSIDERED TRAINING FOR THE MOST PART. THOSE ARE REQUIRED. SO MAYBE THEY DON'T HAVE TO OPERATE A TRACTOR AT THIS POINT, BUT THEY WANT TO MOVE UP TO A SENIOR TECHNICIAN TO DETECT MAYBE WITH THE REC CREW, THEY THEY DON'T DO SPECIAL EVENTS RIGHT NOW, BUT THEY WANT TO TAKE A MARKETING COURSE WHERE THEY CAN FURTHER THEIR THEIR PROGRAM OUTREACH AND THINGS LIKE THAT. AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT CARS AND CHAI VERSUS WAKE AND SCRAPE FOR A DEPARTMENT LIKE OURS, WAKE AND SCRAPE, WHICH IS WHAT WE HAD DONE THE LAST TWO YEARS WHEN WE PARTNERED WITH THAT ORGANIZATION. WE AVERAGED ABOUT 900 PARTICIPANTS OVER THREE DAYS IN A THREE HOURS. AND THIS EVENT WE HAD OVER 900 PEOPLE. AND THEN FROM A STAFFING PERSPECTIVE, IT TOOK US THREE STAFF, TWO PARKS GUYS AND MYSELF, AND THEN CARS AND CHAI BROUGHT IN. ALL THE REST OF THE VOLUNTEERS, MADE SURE THEY MAINTAINED ALL OF THE ROADWAYS, TOOK CARE OF CLEANUP. AND SO IT REALLY WAS A PRETTY MAGNIFICENT PARTNERSHIP. AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO DOING OUR NEXT ONE IN NOVEMBER. AND SO WE'LL DO TWO OF THESE WITH THEM EACH YEAR. BUT WE'LL ALSO PARTNER ON A LOT OF LITTLE TINY, SMALLER POP UP ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS WHERE WE'RE GOING TO BE SHOWING UP AT LOCAL BUSINESSES.
