I'M GOING TO BE OVER HERE BECAUSE I'M GOING TO END UP NEEDING THE MOUSE. SO HOPE YOU GUYS ARE OKAY WITH THAT. SO THIS PRESENTATION IS ON OUR TRAILS CONNECTIVITY PLAN. THE EXPANSION OF MISSOURI CITY'S TRAILS. SO JUST KIND OF SOME HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW ON TRAILS WHEN LOOKING AT THE IMPACT AND THE REASONS THAT WE WANT TO DO THIS PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS, THERE'S, THERE'S RESEARCH OUT THERE THAT SAYS THAT FOR EVERY $1 INVESTED IN A, IN TRAILS FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SAVES AN ESTIMATED $3 IN DIRECT HEALTH SAVINGS. SO ESPECIALLY AS WE LOOK AT RISING COSTS THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY IN THE MEDICAL FIELD THROUGHOUT ALL COMMUNITIES, THIS IS PRETTY VITAL. AND THEN IN ADDITION, WE HAVE OUR ECONOMIC IMPACTS, ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS, AND THEN THE IMPACT THAT IT HAS ON THE COMMUNITY TRAILS CAN REALLY FOSTER A SENSE OF PLACE. THEY CAN HELP WITH NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION. THEY ACT AS A REVITALIZATION METHOD FOR COMMUNITIES. THEY IMPACT OUR OUR PROPERTY VALUES AND OVERALL ARE JUST ARE FANTASTIC FOR THE COMMUNITY, SPECIFICALLY WITHIN MISSOURI CITY, AS WE HAVE DONE COMMUNITY SURVEYS, WHETHER IT'S THE CITIZEN SURVEY THAT WE DO, OUR MASTER PLAN SURVEY, OR EVEN JUST SMALLER SURVEYS THAT OUR DEPARTMENT SENDS OUT, TRAILS ARE CONSISTENTLY A TOP PRIORITY.

AND WHEN I SAY CONSISTENTLY A TOP PRIORITY, I MEAN EVERY, EVERY SURVEY WE HAVE DONE SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE, SO ALMOST EIGHT YEARS, TRAILS HAVE BEEN IN THE TOP THREE NEEDS FROM OUR COMMUNITY, SPOKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE COMMUNITY. AND THEY THEY WANT NOT JUST OUT AND BACK, NOT JUST LOOPS WITHIN PARKS. THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A FULL, EXPANSIVE NETWORK OF TRAILS.

THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO GET TO PLACES THEY WANT TO GO, GROCERY STORES, THEIR FRIENDS HOUSES, PARKS, AND THEY ALSO WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE THEM FOR EXERCISING, FOR SAFE OFF STREET WALKING, BIKING, HIKING, THINGS LIKE THAT. SO WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES OF EXISTING TRAILS, BUT WE DO HAVE A LOT OF KEY GAPS WITHIN THOSE, THOSE TRAIL SYSTEMS. WHEN WE DID OUR 2021 MASTER PLAN, WE ESTABLISHED FOUR PRIMARY GOALS WITHIN THAT MASTER PLAN. AND I KNOW THAT WE HAVE. I'VE PREVIOUSLY SPOKEN TO YOU GUYS ABOUT. WE ARE IN OUR FIVE YEAR MASTER PLAN REVIEW, SO UPDATING OUR. OUR TRAIL MAPS AND PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE IS ONE OF THE GOALS THAT WE HAVE WITH THAT FIVE YEAR REVIEW AS WELL. ONE OF THE, ONE OF THE MASTER PLAN GOALS WAS TO FOCUS ON EXPANDING OUR TRAILS AND GREENWAYS AND INTEGRATING THE SIDEWALK SYSTEMS WHEN NEEDED TO MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE CONNECTING OUR RESIDENTS TO THE DESTINATIONS THEY WANT TO BE. SO JUST A HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW, OUR CURRENT TRAIL SYSTEM, WE HAVE THE OYSTER CREEK TRAIL, WHICH IS IT HOUSES THE EDIBLE ARBOR TRAIL THAT RUNS FROM DULLES TO 1092 AT MOSELEY PARK ALONG THE ALONG OYSTER CREEK. WE HAVE FIRST COLONY TRAIL, WHICH WE HAVE A TRAILHEAD AT WITH SOME FITNESS STATIONS. HUNTER'S GLEN JOGGING TRAIL, WHICH STARTS DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET HERE, LOOPS ALL THE WAY TO FONDREN AND THEN COMES BACK TO PROGRESSIVE HIGH SCHOOL AND HUNTER'S GLEN PARK. WE HAVE OUR GC TRAIL, WHICH STARTS AT INDEPENDENCE PARK ON

INDEPENDENCE BOULEVARD, ACROSS THE STREET FROM MO AND LOOPS ALL THE WAY BEHIND THE REC CENTER. SO THROUGH MEADOW CREEK, ALONG THE GC CANAL TO THE REC CENTER, AND THEN KIND OF JUST STOPS IN THUNDERBIRD NORTH. AND THEN WE HAVE TROXELL COMMUNITY FREEDOM TREE TRAIL BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A NAME FOR IT. THIS IS OUR, OUR NEWEST, NEWEST TRAIL THAT CONNECTS TROXELL PARK TO COMMUNITY PARK AND THEN COMMUNITY PARK TO FREEDOM TREE PARK, INCLUDING A BRIDGE OVER THE BAYOU RIGHT THERE. SO I'M GOING TO GO KIND OF QUICK THROUGH THIS BECAUSE I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO PULL UP THE MAP AT THE END SO THAT I CAN SHOW YOU GUYS THIS. BUT WE HAVE DIVIDED OUR OUR TRAILS MASTER PLAN OR PHASE ONE. SO THIS IS NORTH SLASH EAST OF HIGHWAY SIX.

SO THAT'S THE AREA THAT WE'RE FOCUSING ON WITH THIS PHASE. OUR NEXT STEP IS GOING TO BE SOUTH SLASH WEST OF HIGHWAY SIX. AND THEN WE'LL COMBINE THOSE TWO TOGETHER TO CREATE ONE LARGE MASTER PLAN. SO THE FIRST PHASE HERE, WHICH WE CONSIDER OUR HIGH PRIORITY, WHAT WE WANT TO FOCUS ON FIRST IS WE WANT TO DO CARTWRIGHT ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE PARK. CALL THAT A COMMUNITY CONNECTOR, FREEDOM TREE PARK. SO BASICALLY EXTENDING THAT TROXELL COMMUNITY FREEDOM TREE ALL THE WAY TO THE BACKSIDE OF KITTY HOLLOW PARK. AND THEN WE WANT TO EXPAND THE GC TRAIL TO ROAN PARK. SO AS I MENTIONED, IT KIND OF STOPS WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE SECOND PHASE OF THIS WOULD BE OUR CITY TRAIL EXTENSIONS. SO UTILIZING SOME OF THE TRAILS THAT WE HAVE AND BASICALLY JUST EXTENDING THOSE TO CREATE LONGER OR MORE ROBUST TRAIL SYSTEMS. AND THEN THE THIRD PHASE WOULD BE OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTOR. SO THESE ARE REALLY JUST KIND OF LITTLE EXTENSIONS TO TIE INTO NEIGHBORHOODS OR HUBS OR PRIMARY DESTINATIONS TO CONNECT THE ONES THAT WE'VE JUST TALKED ABOUT TO WHERE PEOPLE WANT TO BE OR WHERE THEY ARE. OKAY. AND I AM. OKAY. YOU GUYS DO HAVE THIS ON YOUR SCREENS, RIGHT? OKAY, PERFECT. SO THIS IS THE, WE'VE, WE'RE KEEP IN MIND WE'RE DOING THIS IN HOUSE. THIS LITTLE TINY ONE DOWN HERE IS THE LOOP AT RIDGEVIEW PARK RIGHT OFF OF OF HIGHWAY SIX. AND THEN AMERICAN LEGION PARK IS IS RIGHT HERE. AND COMMUNITY PARK DOES HAVE A, A LOOP WITHIN IT AS WELL. AND THEN YOU HAVE MCNAUGHTON PARK, WHICH IS A MUCH LARGER LOOP. AND THEN THOSE, THE LINES THAT YOU SEE ARE THE ACTUAL TRAIL SYSTEMS. SO THIS ONE HERE IS HUNTER'S GLEN, LIKE I MENTIONED, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM US. THIS IS THE TROXELL PARK TO COMMUNITY PARK AND DOWN TO FREEDOM TREE PARK. AND THIS IS THE OYSTER CREEK TRAIL AND THE EDIBLE ARBOR TRAIL HERE CONNECTING. AND IT DOES TIE IN TO SUGARLANDS TRAIL SYSTEM, WHICH COMES OVER TO OYSTER CREEK PARK RIGHT HERE. AND IT STOPS AT OUR MOSELEY PARK OFF OF 1092. AND THIS HAS PART THIS IS PART INDEPENDENCE PARK LOOP RIGHT HERE, AND PARK JI KWA TRAIL. SO THEY SHARE THIS PATH ALONG HERE. AND THEN THERE'S A LOOP. IF YOU GO THIS WAY OR IT COMES BEHIND THE REC CENTER CROSSES CARTWRIGHT AND ENDS UP IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD RIGHT HERE. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE WORKING WITH RIGHT NOW. AND THEN IF YOU ADD IN OUR PRIORITY TRAIL SYSTEM, SO THESE ARE THOSE THREE THAT I SAID WE WANT TO FOCUS ON FIRST. RIGHT HERE. WE HAVE A, A, A CANAL BAYOU THAT RUNS KIND OF IN BETWEEN THE QUAIL VALLEY TOWNHOMES AND MEADOW CREEK, RIGHT ALONG THE MEADOW CREEK COMMUNITY BUILDING, RIGHT OFF OF CARTWRIGHT ROAD. AND SO WE WOULD LIKE TO DO A TRAIL ALONG HERE THAT TIES THE SIDEWALKS, CONNECTING. BLESS YOU ALL OF QUAIL VALLEY AND MEADOW CREEK. THEY HAVE SIDEWALKS ON ON CARTWRIGHT ON BOTH SIDES. SO RESIDENTS WOULD BE ABLE TO GET TO THIS AND THEN WOULD BE ABLE TO TIE INTO THE LOOP THAT IS ALREADY HERE FOR INDEPENDENCE PARK, WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY END UP CONNECTING ACROSS TO STAY HERE AS WELL. SO THAT THAT WOULD REALLY TIE THIS AREA AND THIS COMMUNITY TOGETHER AND ALLOW THEM TO GET TO THE TRAILS WITHOUT GETTING IN A VEHICLE AND DRIVING TO INDEPENDENCE OR DRIVING TO THE REC CENTER TO, TO GET ON THE TRAIL. THE SECOND ONE IS OUR, WELL, I GUESS THE SECOND ONE'S

DOWN BELOW, BUT WE'LL JUST GO WITH THE MAP. THE SECOND ONE WOULD BE TO EXTEND THE GC TRAIL.

SO AS I MENTIONED, THIS COMES BEHIND. IT DOES CROSS HERE HERE. AND THEN IT STOPS AT THE SECOND CROSSING HERE. SO WITHIN THIS THERE IS SPACE ALONG THE GC CANAL TO EXPAND THIS. THIS IS A THE CITY'S PROPERTY RIGHT HERE. SO WE WOULD JUST NEED TO GET THIS AND THIS. AND THEN YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO COME INTO ROME PARK AND ESTABLISH A LOOP AROUND ROME PARK, OR EVEN JUST INTO THE PARK, INTO THE COMMON AREAS HERE. THE OTHER REASON THIS IS A, A PRIMARY CONNECTOR FOR US IS THE ABILITY FOR, FOR THIS TO ALSO HAVE A TRAIL SYSTEM, BECAUSE WE'VE GOT SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL AREAS RIGHT HERE THAT DON'T HAVE ACCESS ON THE BACK SIDE TO GET TO OUR PARK. SO AGAIN, THEY'RE GETTING IN VEHICLES, DRIVING TO PARKS, DRIVING TO THE REC CENTER. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE A CROSSWALK RIGHT HERE AT TEXAS PARKWAY AND TURTLE CREEK. AND SO THAT WOULD BE ABLE TO TIE IN ALL OF THESE SIDEWALK SYSTEMS HERE AS WELL. AND THEN OUR THIRD PRIORITY, IF I CAN GET THERE. IS TO EXTEND KIND OF OUR, OUR PARK CONNECTOR SYSTEM. SO FREEDOM TREE WILL END RIGHT HERE. THERE IS AN ESTABLISHED SIDEWALK ALL THE WAY TO LAKE OLYMPIA. AND THEN WITHIN LAKE OLYMPIA, THERE'S AN EASEMENT IN BETWEEN SOME OF THE LAKE OLYMPIA SECTIONS RIGHT HERE WHERE THERE IS NO DEVELOPMENT. AND SO WE WOULD BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THAT DEVELOPMENT DOWN INTO OUR LAKESHORE HARBOR PROPERTY. SO THIS IS ALREADY UNDEVELOPED PARKLAND OWNED BY THE CITY. AND SO WE ACTUALLY WOULD BE ABLE TO TIE INTO HERE. AND THEN WE HAVE TWO KIND OF OUTLETS SLASH LOOPS. YOU CAN COME INTO THE BACKSIDE OF KITTY HOLLOW, WHETHER IT'S UP HERE OR DOWN HERE OR HERE. THAT WOULD BE A KIND OF A PARTNERSHIP, YOU KNOW, DISCUSSION WITH THE COUNTY. IF, IF WE WERE ABLE TO DO THAT TO MAKE SURE WE COULD TIE INTO THEIR FULL LOOP TRAIL SYSTEM THAT'S BEING DEVELOPED, AND THEN YOU COULD ALSO COME ALONG THE MUSTANG BAYOU AND COME OVER AND GO NORTH, BECAUSE THE THE LAKESHORE HARBOR PROPERTY COMES TO ABOUT THE EDGE OF THE BAYOU RIGHT HERE, AND THEN COME UP NORTH TO CONNECT IN AGAIN. YOU HAVE SIDEWALKS ALONG LAKE OLYMPIA HERE, AND THAT WOULD TIE IN YOUR WHOLE PARK'S EDGE.

VICKSBURG, ALL OF THAT KIND OF AREA ON THIS SIDE. ALL RIGHT, SO WE'LL ZOOM OUT. SO YOU GUYS ARE ABLE TO SEE OUR NEXT PHASE THAT WE ARE LOOKING AT IS THE CITY TRAILS EXTENSION. SO THAT'S GOING TO BE THE ORANGE THAT JUST POPPED UP. THIS IS VERY MUCH STILL AN IDEA PHASE RIGHT? MOST OF THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE CITY PROPERTY. IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG CANALS, BAYOUS, CREEKS, THINGS LIKE THAT. SO THERE ARE SOME ENVIRONMENTAL THINGS THAT WILL NEED TO BE EVALUATED. RIGHT NOW WE'RE JUST TRYING TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITIES OF IT.

SO THAT WOULD BE EXTENDING THE OYSTER CREEK TRAIL. JUST BASICALLY FOLLOW THE FOLLOW OYSTER CREEK. THERE'S AN OUTLET HERE THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE TO TIE INTO THE MCNAUGHTON PARK PARKING LOT TECHNICALLY, BUT THEN THEORETICALLY, YOU'RE CONNECTING ALL OF THAT. AND THEN THERE'S ALSO ONE HERE THAT'S ENVIRONMENTALLY GOING TO BE A CHALLENGE, BUT YOU COULD ALSO TIE INTO THE DEAD END AT RIDGEVIEW DRIVE TO TIE INTO THE LOOP AT RIDGEVIEW PARK. THERE'S A CROSSWALK HERE AT AT WHAT IS THIS? I FORGET NOW, BUT YOU WOULD NEED TO UTILIZE THE CROSSWALK. COME UP AND OVER. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH SPACE HERE TO GO UNDER OR WE PROBABLY COULDN'T GO OVER, BUT THERE'S NOT ENOUGH SPACE TO GO UNDER THE BRIDGE THERE. BUT THEN YOU WOULD COULD THEORETICALLY TIE ALL THE WAY BACK IN TO THIS KITTY HOLLOW CONNECTOR THAT WE HAVE BY FOLLOWING EASEMENTS RIGHT HERE. SO THAT WOULD THEORETICALLY TIE OYSTER CREEK PARK ALL THE WAY ALONG HERE DOWN TO KITTY HOLLOW PARK. SO REALLY TYING IN MULTIPLE MISSOURI CITY PARKS, SUGARLANDS PARK SYSTEM AND THE COUNTY'S PARK SYSTEM ALL TOGETHER. AND THEN WE HAVE THE EXTENSION ON THE OTHER SIDE HERE THAT WOULD CONNECT COMMUNITY PARK. YOU GO UP THROUGH THE LITTLE LEAGUE FIELDS, FOLLOW THIS CANAL, AND YOU COULD TIE INTO THE CONNECTOR THAT WE HAD DONE FOR GCC RIGHT HERE IN ROME PARK. THERE ARE A COUPLE OTHER OPTIONS. SIDEWALK SYSTEM HERE TO GET TO ROME AND SOME THINGS LIKE THAT. AND THEN BASICALLY EXPAND. THIS IS JUST EXPANDING THE LOOP RIGHT HERE. SO THIS IS THE INDEPENDENCE PARK. YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO GO AROUND AND KNOW THE COUNTY IS DOING SOME DRAINAGE WORK RIGHT HERE. BUT THERE'S THERE'S A LOT OF PARKLAND HERE THAT WE CAN UTILIZE FOR TRAILS. OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTORS THAT I TALKED ABOUT ARE REALLY JUST SOME SMALLER EXTENSIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT, THAT WE ARE TYING THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IN. THIS WOULD BE ONE OF A LITTLE BIT

DIFFERENT. IT'S NOT NECESSARILY AN OFF STREET TRAIL, BUT IT WOULD REALLY TIE TOGETHER THE TWO LARGER SEGMENTS OF THE TRAIL SYSTEM. SO THIS IS A DIRECTLY BY FIRE STATION THREE AND OFF OF COURT ROAD AND TEXAS PARKWAY. SO THE SIDEWALK STOPS AT THE END OF THE FIRE STATION PROPERTY. SO EXTENDING THAT THAT SIDEWALK THROUGH AND THEN THERE WHERE COURT ROAD USED TO RUN WHEN THEY MOVED INDEPENDENCE BOULEVARD. THIS WAY THERE IS STILL OPEN SPACE HERE TO TIE IN GLOVER ELEMENTARY. SO THIS WOULD BE OFF STREET UNTIL YOU GET BACK HERE. AND THEN WE HAVE THE ANOTHER EASEMENT AVAILABILITY RIGHT HERE IN BETWEEN THESE TWO NEIGHBORHOODS TO TIE IN YOUR HUNTER'S GLEN JOGGING TRAIL DOWN BEHIND THE FAMILY DOLLAR HERE. THIS IS ONE THAT AGAIN, IT WOULD THERE'S SOME ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS TO THIS.

IT WOULD PROBABLY NEED TO BE A THREE FOOT TRAIL JUST BECAUSE OF THE THE WIDTH OF THE EASEMENT AND SOME THINGS LIKE THAT, BUT THAT COULD GET THE PEOPLE TO TEXAS PARKWAY FOR THE, THE CROSSWALK AND THE SIDEWALK SYSTEM TO AGAIN TIE THEM INTO ROWAN PARK RIGHT HERE. THIS ONE IS MORE SO OF A DREAM BECAUSE THIS ACTUALLY GETS OUTSIDE OF MISSOURI CITY HERE. BUT THERE IS THE AVAILABILITY TO TIE IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF PARK'S EDGE. AND THEN YOU JUST HAVE A COUPLE LITTLE SMALL CONNECTORS HERE. EASEMENT AVAILABILITY THAT WOULD BE WORTHWHILE EVALUATING FOR POTENTIAL TRAILS. LAST ONE. SO THESE ARE THE KNOWN NON-CITY TRAILS. SO WE'VE DONE A HIGH LEVEL REVIEW OF WHAT HOA'S THE COUNTY LIDS MUDS HAVE. AND THOSE COME INTO PLAY WHEN DOING A FULL MASTER PLAN OF A TRAIL, BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE FOCUSING ON ALL, ALL NEIGHBORHOODS. YOU KNOW, WE MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET TO EVERY HOUSE, BUT WE CAN GET TO EVERY HOA, EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD, EVERY KIND OF POCKET WITHIN MISSOURI CITY. SO THAT DEFINITELY TIES IN ALL OF THIS AREA HERE, WHICH IS NEEDED BECAUSE WE COULDN'T GET THERE.
