WELL, MAYOR, THIS IS COUNCIL MEMBER BONY, AS I INDICATED AT THE LAST MEETING.

UM, WE'RE HAVING A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL TONIGHT IN THE MEMORY OF OUR FALLEN LION, GEORGE FLOYD.

[2. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION]

WE'LL GET STARTED WITH TWO EIGHT INTERVIEW DISCUSS AND CONSIDER CANDIDATES TO SERVE ON VARIOUS CITY BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS.

DO WE HAVE MR. ODL IN WHO'S WAITING YET? YES, I'LL BRING THEM IN IN A SECOND.

OKAY.

NO PROBLEM.

JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN HE'S READY.

OKAY.

OKAY.

HELLO? YES, THIS IS MAYOR FORD.

THIS IS MR. ODOM.

GOOD EVENING.

HOW ARE YOU TODAY? I'M DOING GREAT.

WELL, WE ARE INTERVIEWING TODAY.

I SEE YOU.

YOUR DESIRE BOARD IS THE MISSOURI CITY PARKS FOUNDATION.

SO IF YOU COULD JUST TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND THEN JUST WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THE MISSOURI CITY PARKS FOUNDATION AND THEN THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY HAVE, AND YOU'LL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW.

YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

OKAY, GREAT.

[00:05:01]

SO MY NAME IS BILL ODL.

UM, I HAVE, UH, HAD THE PLEASURE OF ACTUALLY BEING ON THE BOARD SINCE ITS BEGINNING, DON SMITH.

UM, COUNCILMAN IN NOVEMBER, DON SMITH HAD ASKED ME TO BE ON THE FOUNDATION WHEN IT STARTED.

AND SO I JOINED IT AND BEEN VERY ACTIVE AND, AND HAVE SEEN THE BOARD OBVIOUSLY COME THROUGH IT'S IT'S EARLY STAGES TO WHERE IT IS NOW.

UM, CURRENTLY SERVE AS THE BOARD, UH, PRESIDENT.

UM, I HAVE LIVED IN FORT BEND COUNTY FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS, ACTUALLY LIVED IN SIENNA PLANTATION FOR ABOUT 14 YEARS.

AND JUST RECENTLY ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO, MOVED TO RIVERSTONE AND LIVE IN, IN SUGAR LAND.

UM, I, UH, I'M PRETTY PASSIONATE ABOUT PARKS.

UM, AS A CITY, I'VE DONE OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF WORK WITH THE CITY, MY FIRM ON THE PRESIDENT AND CEO OF TBG PARTNERS, WE'RE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS AND PLANNERS.

SO PARKS IS KIND OF WHAT, WHAT WE DO AND WHAT I DO AND WHAT I LOVE DOING.

AND SO HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO KIND OF OBVIOUSLY DEAL WITH THE PARKS FOUNDATION, HELPING TO RAISE FUNDS TO NOT ONLY BUILD NEW PARKS, BUT TO RAISE FUNDS, TO IMPROVE EXISTING FACILITIES IN THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN GREAT.

UM, YOU KNOW, SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE SINCE, SINCE, SINCE WE'VE BEEN ON THE BORDER, SINCE I'VE BEEN ON THE BOARD IS WE'VE CREATED A WEBSITE WE'VE RECENTLY HIRED A GRANT CONSULTANT TO HELP US WRITE GRANTS, WHICH HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL.

UM, THAT TODAY SIGNED A COUPLE OF LETTERS TODAY FOR SOME LARGE GRANTS THAT WE'RE GOING AFTER AND WE'VE INVESTED INTO GETTING THEM THE STRATEGIC PLANNING CONSULTANT, WHICH I THINK WILL HELP US GO IN THE FUTURE AS A, AS A PARKS FOUNDATION.

SO I HAVE A DESIRE TO KIND OF NOT STEP AWAY FROM WHAT I PUT A LOT OF WORK IN TO HELPING GET TO WHERE IT IS TODAY AND, AND, AND HOPE THAT THE DESIRE OF THE COUNCIL WOULD BE TO POLICE, ALLOW ME TO PARTICIPATE FOR ONE MORE TERM.

SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S ENOUGH OF WHAT YOU NEED OR IF I NEED ANYTHING ELSE BEFORE WE OPEN IT UP.

NO, THAT THAT'S PERFECT.

THAT IS PERFECT.

UNLESS YOU WANTED TO ADD ANYTHING ELSE WE'RE OKAY.

UM, I'LL JUST GO AROUND TO EACH COUNCIL MEMBER TO SEE IF THEY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

NOW, THE MAYOR PRO TEM PRESTON GET BACK ON THE LINE.

OKAY.

COUNCIL NUMBER EDWARDS.

OKAY.

YEAH.

THAT'S NICE TO REMEMBER.

YEAH, GO AHEAD.

HELLO.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR LIMITS WITH HER.

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS IF YOU ARE GRANTED THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE OR CONTINUE TO SERVE WHAT WILL BE YOUR GOALS FOR THEIR, UM, THE PERIOD OF THE POSITION.

AND THE FIRST GOAL WOULD BE TO COMPLETE THE MEMORIAL, THE VETERANS MEMORIAL PROJECT, WHICH WE'VE STARTED AND RAISED A LOT OF FUNDS FOR, AND HOPEFULLY WE'LL START CONSTRUCTION SOON.

THE OTHER WOULD BE TO, UM, RAISE MORE FUNDS TO CONTRIBUTE TO, UM, MANY, MANY SMALL PROJECTS IN THE CITY PARKS PROJECTS.

UM, WE HAVE DONE THAT ALREADY IN A COUPLE, BUT TO DO MORE OF THAT WOULD BE KIND OF MY DESIRES THAT HAVE, HAVE FUNDS THAT ARE MORE DIVERSE THAN JUST THE PROJECT, BUT ACROSS THE WHOLE CITY.

OKAY.

COUNCIL MEMBER STERLING.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT.

NOW I JUST WANT TO THANK MR. ALDEN.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE IN MISSOURI CITY.

AND I HAVE NO QUESTIONS.

YOU ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU, RICHARD COUNCIL MEMBER LIST.

HEY MYSTRO THANK YOU.

UM, MAYOR, I MENTIONED THAT, UH, IT'LL BE ON THE VETERANS MEMORIAL AND DO MORE AROUND THE PARK, THEN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.

SO THANK YOU, BILL FOR THAT INFORMATION.

SURE.

IS COUNCIL MEMBER EMORY THERE? YES, I SEE HIM ON, I'M JUST GETTING ANY AUDIO FROM HIM.

OKAY.

OKAY.

WELL, WELL THANK YOU MR. ODL.

UM, I THINK SOME OF OUR COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE HAVING A FEW TECHNICAL ISSUES, SO I UNDERSTAND SO, BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING INTO, UH, OR CALLING IN TO INTERVIEW WITH US TODAY.

WE'LL WE'LL GET, WE WILL GET BACK WITH YOU ASAP.

ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU.

BYE-BYE BYE BYE.

OKAY, DOUG, YOU CAN SEND THE NEXT PERSON IN .

CAN YOU HEAR ME, SIR? YES.

OKAY.

MY I GO AHEAD.

OKAY.

HI, MS. ROSE, HOW ARE YOU? THIS IS MERE FOR

[00:10:03]

YOU.

GOOD EVENING.

WELL, TODAY WE'RE DOING INTERVIEWS FOR THE BOARDS AND YOUR INTERVIEW WILL BE NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES.

YOU'LL HAVE A, YOU CAN BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE.

AND THEN AFTER THAT, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK YOU ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY MAY HAVE YOUR DESIRED BOARD.

WE HAVE HERE IS THE PLANNING AND COMMISSION PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION BOARD.

SO YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

YES, MA'AM, WE'LL JUST GET EVENING TO EVERYBODY.

I'M SO GLAD TO, UH, TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY AND SO GLAD IT'S THAT WE'RE USING TECHNOLOGY TO BE ABLE TO DO IT.

UM, MY NAME IS COURTNEY JOHNSON BROS.

I AM A LONGTIME RESIDENT OF MISSOURI CITY.

UM, MY FAMILY MOVED INTO THE COMMUNITY, UH, WHEN I WAS SEVEN AND, UH, LIVE IN METAL CREEK, QUILL GLAND, MAKE OLYMPIA AND NOW, UH, AND ALSO COLONY CROSSING.

UM, SO I'VE BEEN IN THE COMMUNITY FOR MOST OF MY LIFE AND HAVE ENJOYED THE OPPORTUNITY TO, UH, BE A PART OF PLANNING AND ZONING NOW FOR FIVE YEARS.

UH, SO ASKING TO BE REAPPOINTED TO THE BOARD.

UM, MY BACKGROUND IS IN REAL ESTATE.

UM, MY FAMILY OWNED BUSINESSES IN MISSOURI CITY OFF OF LAKE OLYMPIA PARKWAY, G JOHNSON DEVELOPMENT, AND WE DO REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT, RESIDENTIAL HOME SALES, COMMERCIAL SALES, ALSO TOO, PRIMARILY IN THE MISSOURI CITY AREA.

SO I'VE ENJOYED BEING A PART OF THE COMMISSION.

AND HOPEFULLY THE BACKGROUND THAT I HAVE IN REAL ESTATE HAS BEEN HELPFUL ALSO TO OVER THE YEARS, UM, ON THE, ON THE BOARD.

UH, SO IT WOULD BE A PLEASURE TO CONTINUE SERVING.

THANK YOU, MS. ROSE, THAT WE GET MAYOR PRO TEM BACK ON THE LINE.

NOT YET.

OKAY.

COUNCIL MEMBER AIR WAS, GO AHEAD.

HELLO.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY.

UM, MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM IT'S CHOSEN TO CONTINUE TO SERVE ON THIS COMMITTEE? UH, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'VE ENJOYED BEING A PART OF PLANNING AND ZONING IS WHERE WE HAVE, UH, COMMUNITY INPUT.

UM, IT'S ALWAYS NICE WHEN, UH, YOU KNOW, I'LL PULL UP INTO THE PARKING LOT FOR THE MEETING IN THE PARKING LOT SCHOOL.

AND I SAY, OKAY, WE HAVE AN ITEM ON THE AGENDA THAT HAS REALLY BROUGHT THE DL COMMUNITY OUT.

UH, SO ONE OF THE GOALS IS TO REALLY KIND OF CONTINUE THAT IN ENGAGEMENT, LOOKING AT THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION MECHANISMS, UH, THAT THE CITY HAS A ROBUST FACEBOOK WEBSITE, ET CETERA, THAT I SEE PEOPLE GETTING MORE, UM, ENGAGED AND ACTIVE AND ALSO USING THEIR VOICE.

SO ONE GOAL IS TO BE ABLE TO USE, I KNOW NOW OUR PRIMARY METHOD OF PATIENT WHEN, UH, ME BEING A FAKE, UH, THAT'S ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING, YOU KNOW, UH, THE, ARE THERE ANY OTHER, THE CITY HAS SUCH A ROBUST COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, YOU KNOW, IS THERE A DIALING SYSTEM A LITTLE BIT, WE CAN USE IT, THEIR TEXT MESSAGE LINE AND WE CAN USE TO GET PEOPLE MORE ENGAGED OTHER THAN JUST MAIL OUT.

SO THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN, UH, BECAUSE I THINK IT'S WONDERFUL WHEN THE COMMUNITY IS ENGAGED AND ACTIVE IN WHAT IS, WHAT IS, WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND THEM.

ALRIGHTY, THANK YOU, COUNCIL NUMBER STERLING.

OKAY.

THANK YOU, MS. ROSE FOR YOUR CONTINUOUS SERVICE IN MISSOURI CITY.

I KNOW YOU BRING A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO OUR MEETINGS AND OUR BOARDS AND TO THE COMMUNITIES IN MISSOURI CITY.

BUT MY QUESTION IS HOW IMPORTANT IS ATTENDANCE AND SERVING ON THE BOARD? AND, UH, TELL ME, HOW DO YOU FEEL THAT, YOU KNOW, BY SERVING, WOULD YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO, TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ATTEND THE MEETINGS IN ORDER TO BE A GOOD SERVICE TO ALL THE COMMUNITIES, UH, ON PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE AS A PLAN IN ITS OWN A COMMITTEE MEMBER? YES, MA'AM THANK YOU FOR THAT.

YES.

UM, I WOULD BE COMMITTED, UH, TO OUR MEETINGS CURRENTLY WE'RE MEETING ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS AND THAT HAS BEEN, YOU KNOW, BARE COMFORTABLE FOR MY SCHEDULE.

UM, IN THE MEETINGS IS PRETTY, ARE PRETTY CONSISTENT.

UM, WE HAVE STARTED UTILIZING ZOOM FOR OUR MEETINGS DURING THE COVID VIRUS.

UM, I'M HOPEFUL THAT THAT'S SOMETHING THAT CAN CONTINUE.

THERE'S BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE MAYBE WE ONLY HAVE ONE ITEM ON THE AGENDA AND WE STILL, UH, CONVENE IN A PERSON IN THE PAST, MAYBE IN THE FUTURE, WE CAN UTILIZE, UH, ELECTRONIC PLATFORM LIKE THIS TO KIND

[00:15:01]

OF BE ABLE TO AVOID SITUATIONS LIKE THAT.

UH, BUT YOU KNOW, I'M CERTAINLY COMMITTED TO IT.

UM, AND LOOK AT LOOKING FORWARD TO HOPEFULLY HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACTUALLY, SO, UM, I THINK OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, UM, ANY MEETING THAT I'VE HAD TO MISS, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE STAFF AHEAD OF TIME SO THAT THEY ARE, UM, UM, AWARE OF THAT, UM, BEFORE THE MEETING AND CAN KIND OF PLAN ACCORDINGLY TO, TO HAVE A CALL.

WE'VE HAD A COUPLE OF INSTANCES WHERE WE'VE MAYBE HAD TO MOVE THE MEETING JUST BASED UPON HAVING CORN, IF THAT PARTICULAR DATE WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ENOUGH OF THE MEMBERS, UH, BUT HAVE BEEN FLEXIBLE, UM, ALSO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN DIFFERENT COMMITTEE MEETINGS OUTSIDE OF THAT, THAT THE COMMISSION IS INVITED TO.

SO AGAIN, STILL PLAN TO BE VERY, VERY ACTIVE PARTICIPANT AND IN ALL THE DIFFERENT, DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

YES, MA'AM GOOD EVENING.

THANK YOU FOR SERVING.

I'VE WATCHED YOU AND I APPRECIATE YOUR, UH, YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH THE BOARD.

UM, I HAVE A QUESTION.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR UPCOMING RE UM, MEETINGS THAT HAVE REZONING THAT THE COMMUNITY REALLY IS NOT COMPLETELY ON BOARD? HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THOSE TYPES OF MEETINGS? THAT'S AN EXCELLENT QUESTION.

UM, COUNCIL MEMBER, ONE OF THE GOOD THINGS THAT THE STAFF DOES A GREAT JOB WITH IS PREPARING US FOR THE MEETINGS AHEAD OF TIME.

WE USUALLY WILL GET THE PACKET THE FRIDAY BEFORE.

SO WE ALMOST HAVE A FULL WEEK, UH, TO RE REVIEW THOSE DOZER ITEMS. A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT I KIND OF LOOK AT WHEN I'M APPROVING ITEMS THAT ARE COMING, THAT A COMMUNITY HAS AN ISSUE WITH.

UH, ONE THING THAT'S REALLY BIG FOR ME, UH, TO UNDERSTAND IS IF THAT DEVELOPER, A PURCHASER OF THAT PROPERTY HAS MET WITH THE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION.

OUR CITY HAS A VERY ROBUST AND ACTIVE, UH, HOA IS.

AND IN MY OPINION, IN THE APPROACH THAT I'VE TAKEN ON THIS BOARD IS IF THAT DEVELOPER HAS NOT TAKEN THE TIME AND THE INTEREST TO ENGAGE THAT HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION TO GET FEEDBACK INTEREST BUY-IN ON THEIR PROJECT, UH, BEING THAT THAT IS AN ISSUE.

UM, YOU WON'T GET EVERYONE TO LOVE EVERYTHING.

EVERYONE WON'T LIKE EVERYTHING, BUT IF THEY HAVE NOT EVEN CROSSED THAT PATH OR TRY TO ENGAGE THE ACTUAL HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, THAT IS, UH, THAT IS A FLYER.

UH, SO WHEN PREP PREPARING FOR THOSE TYPE OF MEETINGS, THAT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT I'LL ASK THE STAFF, UM, AND AGAIN, I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH.

THE STAFF DOES A GREAT JOB PREPARING US FOR THAT, BUT THOSE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE HOW THE DEVELOPER HAS ACTUALLY ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY WITH THE HOMEOWNER'S ASSOCIATION AND THOSE LEADERS, AND TRY TO DO THAT DUE DILIGENCE INFORMATION WORK BEFORE THE MEETING AS, AS, UM, AS A PREPARATION FOR, OKAY.

ALRIGHTY, COUNCIL MEMBER EMORY.

YES.

UH, THANK YOU, UH, COURTNEY FOR YOUR, UH, CONTINUING SERVICE TO, UH, TO THE CITY AND ON THE P AND G.

UM, I REALLY APPRECIATE, UH, YOUR, UH, DISCUSSION WITH, UH, COUNCILMAN MEROLA'S AS FAR AS HOW YOU GET PREPARED, UH, WHEN, FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, THAT YOU'RE ALWAYS PREPARED EITHER HAVING WORKED WITH, UH, THE STAFF OR THE, UH, THE DEVELOPER OR, UM, MOSTLY IMPORTANT OR MOST IMPORTANTLY, UH, THE, UH, THE HOA.

SO, UH, THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR, UH, UH, CONTINUED SERVICE.

AND, UH, WE HOPE THAT, UH, WE'LL SEE YOU, UH, AT THE, UH, THE NEXT P AND Z MEETING.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, SIR.

ALL RIGHT, MS. ROSE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

UH, I LIVE IN THIS COMMUNITY FOR A LITTLE OVER 36 YEARS.

AND I WENT TO MY UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES AND GRADUATE STUDIES AND MY DOCTORAL STUDIES, I HAVE A DOCTORATE.

UM, I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY, UH, AS YOU, UH, MAY UNDERSTAND WHY.

I MEAN, I HAVE MOVED THAT SEVERAL OFTEN, UH, WITH JOBS AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS THAT, UH, I'LL GIVE YOU GUYS, I, I CARE A LOT ABOUT THIS AND I'VE MADE IT KNOWN TO PERSONAL CONTACT WITH IT'S MAYOR OR ANYONE ELSE.

UM, I WANTED TO GIVE A LOT OF BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT I GREW UP IN, AND I GENUINELY WANT TO BE A VOICE FOR FOLKS THAT LIVE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

I HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS THAT LIVE NEAR NEIGHBORS THAT I'VE GROWN VERY FOND OF.

UM, I MEAN, I DON'T MIND BEING ON SEVERAL BIG IS I HAVE THE TIME IN THE EVENINGS TO BE AVAILABLE OR CAN YOU SUPPORT AND, UH, AND, AND MORE SO BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, I ENJOY BEING HERE AND I LOVE TO GIVE THEM BACK.

OKAY.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? MY FIRST QUESTION, OR MY ONLY QUESTION IS WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS OF SHELDON FOR THE COMING TERM AND, UM, HOW DO YOU PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THEM? OH, I'M SORRY.

SAY THAT AGAIN.

YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM, IF CHOSEN FOR THE POSITION AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THEM? WELL, THE, THE, THE COMING, UH, I OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE AGENDA ITEMS AND SEE WHAT, WHAT I AM B QUESTION TO DO.

I WILL ALWAYS GIVE EVERYTHING I HAVE ON IT.

A HUNDRED PERCENT MY OPINION IN MAKING SURE THAT THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE AND BE A VOICE FOR THE FOLKS THAT LIVE IN THE SCHOOL COUNCIL MEMBERS, STERLING.

I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

YES.

THANK YOU, MR. ABRAHAM, I KNOW YOU MENTIONED YOU SERVED ON SEVERAL BOARDS AND, UH, I JUST WANT TO ASK YOU A QUESTION.

HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR ATTENDANCE IN ALL THESE WATER? DO YOU SEE THAT THERE IS NOT STRETCHING A LITTLE BIT TOO THIN, OR YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE THE TIME TO ENSURE THAT YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE, I THINK, AND IS VERY IMPORTANT AND YOU'RE REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE IN YOUR COMMUNITY AND ICO THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, YOU SHOULD GIVE IT YOUR A HUNDRED PERCENT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU'VE ATTENDED A MEETING AND THEY'RE HERE TO SUPPORT BECAUSE THEY WERE DENIED INSTEAD OF BEING DISCUSS MATTERS.

SO, YEAH, I INVOLVED ALL FOUR, A HUNDRED PERCENT ANY MEETINGS, AND IF I HAVE SOMETHING THAT'S PLANNED

HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING WELL.

YOU WILL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW TODAY.

YOU CAN START OFF WITH JUST TELLING US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, UH, AND WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION.

AND AFTER THAT, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK HIM ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY MAY HAVE, AND YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

MY NAME IS JOE PAULA KIM.

I AM A RESIDENT OF MISSOURI CITY.

I'VE LIVED HERE NOW SINCE 2006.

SO ABOUT 14 YEARS, UH, SINCE JANUARY, 2006, ACTUALLY A LITTLE OVER 14 YEARS.

I'M A LICENSED ATTORNEY.

I'VE BEEN LICENSED

[00:35:01]

TO PRACTICE LAW FOR 17 YEARS, SINCE 2000.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO SIT ON THE COMMISSION.

I BELIEVE THAT I'M QUALIFIED.

I'D LIKE TO STAY INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY.

I'M ON SET ON A COUPLE BOARDS, MY HOA BOARD FOR ONE, I CURRENTLY SIT ON THE TARS THREE BOARD AND I'M WANTING TO SIT ON THIS PARTICULAR COMMISSION BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT I'M QUALIFIED TO DO SO.

AND I'D LIKE TO CONTINUE SERVING MY COMMUNITY.

THANK YOU.

UM, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS, MS. KIM, THANK YOU FOR YOUR ONGOING COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY.

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM AND CHOSEN FOR THIS POSITION AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO IMPLEMENT? UM, MY GOALS WILL BE IN LINE WITH, UH, WHATEVER THE COMMISSION IS REQUIRED TO DO MAINLY, UM, MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS, REVIEW THE CHARTER, SEE IF ANY POST CHANGES NEED TO BE DONE.

AND IF THEY ARE DONE TO MAKE THOSE, IF THEY DO NEED TO BE DONE TO MAKE THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS TO, UH, CITY COUNCIL, COUNCIL MEMBERS, STERLING.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

UM, MS. CAMPUS, JUST A QUICK QUESTION.

YOU KNOW, ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT AS SERVING ON THE BOARDS AND I KNOW YOU SERVED ON SEVERAL.

WHAT GRADE IMPROVEMENTS IS YOU BRING IN SERVING ON THE CHARTER? WOULD PEOPLE, I APOLOGIZE.

I MISSED THE LAST PART OF THAT, BUT IMPROVEMENTS, IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ACTUAL COMMISSION.

YES.

UM, I'M NOT SURE WHO, YOU KNOW, WHO THE MEMBERS ARE NOW.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEIR TERMS ARE EXPIRING.

UM, I DO KNOW THAT ME PERSONALLY, WITH MY BACKGROUND THAT I DO BRING, UH, CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS TO THIS COMMISSION.

AND SO I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY, YOU KNOW, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE COMMISSION RIGHT NOW.

I JUST KNOW THAT EVERY FOUR OR FIVE YEARS YOU GUYS DO DO THIS AGAIN.

AND SO, UM, IF THERE IS A SPOT FOR ME, I DO BELIEVE TO BE THERE.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT I WOULD BRING TO THE ACTUAL COMMISSION.

OKAY.

THANK YOU MUCH, COUNCIL MEMBER LIST, GOOD AGE OF PAULA AND LOOKING FOR YOU AT LOOPY TORTILLAS, HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING WELL.

GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU.

UM, I WANTED TO DIG A LITTLE BIT DEEPER INTO, UM, THE CHARTER AND I DUNNO WHETHER OR NOT YOU'VE HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT, BUT THERE'S, IS THERE SOMETHING THERE THAT REALLY DRAWS YOUR ATTENTION THAT YOU WANT TO HAVE FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH THE COMMISSION? UH, IF YOU WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY? NO.

UM, I, ME PERSONALLY, I HAVE LOOKED AT THE CHARTER.

I DON'T KNOW THAT THERE'S ANYTHING RIGHT NOW THAT, UM, I WOULD ACTUALLY CHANGE.

I'M WILLING TO LISTEN TO, UH, PROPOSED CHANGES.

I'M WILLING TO LISTEN TO ANYONE THAT MIGHT HAVE INPUT ON WHETHER OR NOT, UM, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ACTUALLY CHANGED THERE.

BUT ME PERSONALLY, NO, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING THAT I WOULD SAY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AT THIS POINT.

I AM, UH, WILLING TO REVIEW ANY PROPOSED CHANGES THAT ARE THERE AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS AND GIVE MY VIEWPOINT ON WHETHER OR NOT I THINK IT SHOULD BE CHANGED WHETHER OR NOT I THINK IT SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED.

THAT'S WHY I'M WILLING TO LISTEN TO EVERYONE INVOLVED AND TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT'S BEST FOR THE CITY OF MISSOURI CITY MOVING FORWARD.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EMORY.

YES.

UH, THANK YOU.

UM, OR, UH, YOUR, UH, YOUR WILLINGNESS TO, UH, SERVE ON, UH, OUR, UH, COMMITTEE AND THIS CAMP.

UM, I GUESS, UH, THE QUESTION THAT I WOULD HAVE IS, UM, KNOWING I'M ASSUMING THAT YOU'RE A, UH, AN ACTIVE LAWYER AT THIS POINT, AND THE QUESTION WOULD BE, YOU KNOW, UH, AS FAR AS, UH, THE AVAILABILITY TO, UH, PARTICIPATE IN, UH, THE, UH, CHARTER REVIEW BOARD MEETINGS, UH, WHICH, ALTHOUGH IT'S, I THINK THE, UH, THE TERM IS FOR SIX MONTHS, BUT, UH, I BELIEVE THAT THAT DURING THAT SIX MONTHS, IT CAN BE PRETTY INTENSIVE AS FAR AS, UH, BEING ABLE TO GET TOGETHER, YOU KNOW, AS A, AS A GROUP.

SO, UH, DO YOU HAVE ANY, UH, ANY PROBLEMS OR ISSUES WITH, UH, UH, BEING ABLE TO, UH, COMMIT THE TIME THAT WOULD BE NEEDED TO, UH, PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS BOARD? NO, SIR.

I HAVE NO TIME RESTRAINTS.

OKAY, GREAT.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

ALRIGHTY, MISS CAMP.

THANK YOU.

WE WILL GET BACK WITH YOU AS SOON AS WE MAKE APPOINTMENTS AND THANK YOU FOR COMING IN TO INTERVIEW

[00:40:01]

WITH US TODAY.

THANK YOU.

ALRIGHTY, BYE BYE.

IS MR. DAVIDSON ON THE LINE, MR. DAVIDSON.

HELLO.

GOOD EVENING.

HI, GOOD EVENING, MR. DAVIDSON.

THIS IS MAYOR FORD.

HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING WELL.

HOW ARE YOU ALL? WE'RE DOING WELL.

THANK YOU.

YOU WILL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW.

UH, IF YOU CAN BRIEFLY JUST TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, UH, WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE AND THEN THE COUNCIL MEMBERS AT THAT POINT, WE'LL ASK YOU ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY MAY HAVE, AND YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

OKAY.

OKAY.

SURE.

UM, AND YOU ALL CAN HEAR ME OKAY, CORRECT? YES, WE CAN HEAR YOU VERY WELL.

OKAY, GREAT.

ALL RIGHT, WELL, UM, GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS JAMES DAVIDSON.

UM, I HAVE BEEN A MISSOURI CITY RESIDENT, UH, SINCE I THINK 1997.

UM, MY FAMILY MOVED OVER HERE, UH, FROM SUGARLAND AND, UH, WHEN I GOT FINISHED, UM, IN CA COLLEGE, I MOVED BACK AND DECIDED TO CALL MISSOURI CITY HOME.

UH, I WENT TO DALLAS HIGH SCHOOL AND THEN WENT TO UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY WHERE I RECEIVED MY BACHELOR'S IN COMMUNICATIONS.

AND THEN, UM, WENT TO UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AND GOT MY IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, UH, WHERE I FOCUSED ON, UH, PUBLIC BUDGETING AS WELL AS, UH, GOOD GOVERNANCE.

UM, SO I RECENTLY MOVED TO DISTRICT B I'M IN THE, UH, DRY CREEK VILLAGE AREA.

AND WHAT REALLY GOT ME INTERESTED IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IS REALLY UNDERSTANDING ONE, HOW BEST TO GROW A COMMUNITY, AND THEN HOW THAT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REALLY TIES INTO AN AREAS LOCATE, EXCUSE ME, AN AREAS, EDUCATION AS WELL AS ITS INFRASTRUCTURE AND ATTRACTION, UM, TO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY.

SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT REALLY LED ME, UH, YOU KNOW, TO BE INTERESTED IN THIS POSITION.

ALRIGHTY, THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YES.

MA'AM.

I HAVE A QUESTION.

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS, UM, FIRST AND FOREMOST, THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR CITY.

UM, WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM OF CHOSEN FOR THE POSITION AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THOSE CALLS? GOTCHA.

UM, SO I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU SEE THE CAMERA LOOKING DOWN SOME OF MY NOTES, CAUSE I HAD, UH, JOTTED SOME FEW, A FEW THINGS DOWN.

UH, ONE OF MY BIGGEST THINGS IS MAKING SURE THAT, UH, THE MONEY THAT'S ALLOCATED FOR, UM, THE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. UM, I, I NOTICED ON YOUR LAST AGENDA MEETING THE FULL AGENDA, UM, BACK IN JULY OF LAST YEAR, THERE WERE, UM, THERE WAS A SECTION ONE OH EIGHT PROGRAM AS WELL AS HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM.

SO MY NUMBER ONE GOAL WOULD BE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ALLOCATED FUNDS ARE USED EXACTLY HOW AND WHEN THEY'RE OUTLINED, UH, TO BE, UH, TO BE USED, I AM INTERESTED IN GROWTH IN TERMS OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.

I THINK THE CITY IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED, UH, TO BE A THRIVING BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND HA HAVE A THRIVING BUSINESS COMMUNITY WHERE WE ATTRACT BUSINESS AND THEN WE'LL RETAIN THE GOOD BUSINESSES THAT ARE ALREADY EXISTING, UM, IN THE CITY.

SO, UM, ONE MAKE SURE THE MONEY THAT'S ALLOCATED IS USED AS IT, AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE USED.

AND THEN SECONDLY, ATTRACTING A NEW, NEW BUSINESS AND NEW, UH, THINKING OF NEW WAYS TO DEVELOP THAT IS BEAUTIFICATION ALONG SOME OF OUR EXISTING ARTERIES, BUT ALSO, UH, BUILDING UP NEW, UM, NEW AREAS THAT ARE UP AND COMING MY AREA, UH, IN PARTICULAR, BUT ALSO SOME OF OUR, UH, OLDER PARTS OF THE CITY, MAKING SURE THAT, UH, WHEN WE'RE THINKING ABOUT DEVELOPMENT OR WHEN YOU ALL AS COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE THINKING ABOUT DEVELOPMENT, THAT, UM, IT, IT MAKES SENSE, UM, TO YOU ALL AND, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER RECOMMENDATIONS THAT I AND MY OTHER COMMITTEE MEMBERS COULD PROVIDE, UH, COULD DO THAT BECAUSE I TRULY BELIEVE THAT IF WE'RE BUILDING IN ONE AREA, UM, IT SHOULD REALLY, UM, BENEFIT ECONOMICALLY THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL MEMBER STERLING.

UH, NO, JUST THANK YOU, MR. DAVIS, AND FOR YOUR DESIRE TO SERVE.

I HAVE NO QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU.

OKAY, COUNSEL, GOOD EVENING, MR. DAVIDSON.

AND I REALLY, REALLY, I REALLY GOT TO, I REALLY GOT TO DO THIS YOLANDA GO KOOKS VIKINGS.

HE WENT TO DALLAS.

THAT'S TRUE.

YEAH, I HAVE, UH, I HAVE A FEW ALLEGIANCES AND UH, GO BACK.

YEAH, THERE WE GO.

HERE WE GO.

EVERYONE ELSE MUTE OUT.

NO, THANK YOU FOR JOINING US THIS EVENING.

UM, I APPRECIATED YOUR INTRODUCTION.

SO

[00:45:01]

THAT ADDRESSED A LOT OF MY QUESTIONS.

I DID HAVE A SIDE QUESTION AND THAT IS, WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN ALSO POSSIBLY SERVING ON THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION? AND THE REASON I SAY THAT IS WITH YOUR, YOUR BACKGROUND IN ADMINISTRATION AT U OF H UH, THAT COULD BE A GOOD FIT AND JUST ASKING IF YOU'D BE INTERESTED IN THAT.

YEAH.

AND PART OF THE, PART OF WHAT I, UM, HAD MENTIONED EARLIER, UM, WITH MY INTEREST IN GOOD GOVERNANCE IS IT HAS TO COVER MORE THAN ONE ENTITY.

SO OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IS, IS A GROWING PASSION OF MINE, BUT REVIEWING AND CHARTER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE THINGS THAT YOU ALL ARE TRYING TO IMPLEMENT IT'S WRITTEN IN CODE.

SO IN CASE, YOU KNOW, CITIZENS HAVE CONCERNS, YOU CAN EASILY REFERENCE BACK, OKAY, HERE'S, WHAT'S IN OUR STATUTES, HERE'S WHAT WE'RE ALLOWED TO DO, AND HERE'S WHAT WE'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO.

SO YEAH, MY, MY INTEREST IS REALLY IN SERVING.

UM, I, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE, YOU KNOW, I CAN LEND MY VOICE IN DOING THE WORK.

I THINK THAT'S, I THINK THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT AGAIN, ESPECIALLY WITH MISSOURI CITY WHERE IT IS TODAY.

AGAIN, I REALLY DO THINK IT IS, UM, AT THE POINT WHERE IT CAN MAKE A PIVOT TOWARDS SOME REALLY GOOD THINGS HAPPENING.

SO THAT'S A LONG WAY OF SAYING YES, I'LL TAKE IT.

THANK YOU, SIR.

COUNCIL MEMBER EMORY.

YES.

UH, THANK YOU, MR. DAVIDSON.

UH, ONE QUESTION, UH, WHAT ADDED VALUE, UH, COULD YOU, UH, BRING TO THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE, UH, SELECTED TO BE A BOARD MEMBER? WELL, I THINK SO AND A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE, UM, WOULD, WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO PUT IT.

AND I'LL TRY TO EXPAND ON THAT.

UM, GROWING UP HERE, UM, WHAT I NOTICED AT THE TIME I WAS GROWING UP THERE, WEREN'T A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES, UM, FOR A YOUNG PERSON INTERESTED IN CITY GOVERNMENT, UM, AND THE INNER WORKINGS OF IT.

SO WHEN I WENT TO SCHOOL AND CAME BACK, A LOT OF THE WORK THAT I DID WAS IN HOUSTON.

UM, I WAS A PAST CIVIC ENGAGEMENT CHAIR FOR THE URBAN LEAGUE, YOUNG PROFESSIONALS.

I, UM, CONTRIBUTED TO A NUMBER OF LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES, BOTH HERE IN FORT BEND COUNTY WITH OUR SCHOOL BOARD, AS WELL AS WITH THE GREATER HOUSTON BLACK CHAMBER WITH THEIR LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE.

AND WHAT I LEARNED THERE IS REALLY WHAT MAKES THE CITY OF HOUSTON TICK.

AND SINCE IT IS GOING BETWEEN THE THIRD AND FOURTH LARGEST CITY IN THE UNITED STATES, UM, I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO, WITH A LOT OF THE, UH, THE, THE PEOPLE WHO MOVE THE LEVERS AND NOT SAYING THAT I BRING ANY EXTRA NETWORKING, UM, CAPABILITIES TO THE TABLE, BUT I BRING THAT PERSPECTIVE OF SEEING HOW A CITY THAT'S RIGHT NEXT TO US, UM, IS, IS DOING A LOT OF, UH, GOOD THINGS.

AND THEN BRINGING THAT TO MISSOURI CITY, UM, WITH, WITH, YOU KNOW, WITH MY AGE, I THINK A LOT OF, UM, UH, YOUNGER PEOPLE, I KNOW A COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS CAN ATTEST TO THAT.

A LOT OF US AREN'T NECESSARILY CONCERNED WITH CITY GOVERNANCE AND WE, WE BRING A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE TO THE TABLE AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I WANT TO DO.

UM, YOU KNOW, WITH THIS COMMITTEE IN PARTICULAR, UH, THERE'S NEW WAYS OF DOING BUSINESS, AND THEN I MIGHT HAVE TO COLLABORATE, UM, WITH YOU ALL AND PROVIDE, UM, PERSPECTIVE AND RECOMMENDATIONS.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

NO PROBLEM.

THANK YOU FOR COMING TO INTERVIEW WITH US TODAY.

WE WILL DEFINITELY GET BACK WITH YOU AS SOON AS WE GET OUR BOARD MEMBERS APPOINTED.

AND I WANT TO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR TAKING THE TIME TO INTERVIEW WITH US TODAY.

SURE.

THANK YOU ALL FOR HAVING ME.

ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU.

BYE-BYE BYE-BYE OKAY.

I SEE MR. WILLIS ON, I JUST DON'T HAVE THE AUDIO FOR HIM.

SO MR. WILLIS, THERE SHOULD BE A BUTTON THAT SAYS, JOIN AUDIO.

NEED TO CLICK THAT BUTTON SO WE CAN

[00:50:01]

HEAR YOU PLEASE.

IS HE STILL THERE THOUGH? YOU STILL THERE? GIVE ME ONE SECOND WITH HIM.

OKAY.

[00:57:05]

OKAY.

LET'S TRY MR. CONLIN.

OKAY.

THIS IS MAYOR FORD.

HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING WELL.

HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING WELL.

THANK YOU.

YOU'LL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW.

UH, YOU CAN TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.

AND THEN AT THAT POINT, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK YOU ANY QUESTIONS THEY MAY HAVE, AND YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

ALL RIGHT.

SOUNDS GOOD.

WELL, UM, GOOD EVENING.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.

UM, MY NAME IS JOHN .

I CAN, CAN YOU HEAR ME? OKAY.

OKAY, GO AHEAD AND CLOSE THE WEB BROWSER, PLEASE.

YOU WANT ME TO CLOSE MY, HOW ARE YOU? NO, THANK YOU.

I'M SORRY.

I'M TRYING TO CLOSE THE WEB BROWSER HERE.

YOU'LL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW.

YOU CAN TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.

AND THEN AT THAT POINT, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK YOU IF, OKAY, SOUNDS GOOD.

CAN YOU HEAR ME BETTER NOW? I CLOSE A WEB BROWSER.

OKAY.

SORRY ABOUT THAT.

I'M USUALLY NOT THAT TECHNICAL BAD THERE.

SO ANYWAY, THANK YOU AGAIN FOR HAVING ME.

I APPRECIATE, UM, ALL OF YOUR, YOUR TIME AND WHAT YOU ALL DO FOR THE CITY.

UM, MY NAME IS JOHN CONLIN, A LONG TIME, 22 YEAR RESIDENT OF FORT BEND COUNTY ON THE FIRST 21 YEARS OF THOSE WERE IN FIRST COLONY SHERWIN.

UM, MY WIFE AND OUR THREE SONS MOVED OVER TO QUAIL VALLEY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO.

UM, UH, ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WAS, WAS MY YOUNGEST IS NOW GOING TO BE A JUNIOR AT ELKINS WANTING TO AND ELKINS WITH MOST OF HIS FRIENDS.

SO, UH, WHO CAN SAY NO TO THEIR KIDS.

UM, EVEN WHEN YOU TRY IT, DOESN'T USUALLY WORK OUT SO WELL.

UM, UH, THREE BOYS AGES, 21, 20 AND 16.

UM, MOVED DOWN HERE FROM NEW YORK ABOUT 22 YEARS AGO.

I WAS COMMODITY BROKER FOR OVER 25 YEARS.

AND FOR THE LAST YEAR OR SO, I'VE BEEN THE DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOR A DRONE COMPANY.

UM, I HAVE, UH, I HAVE SERVED OVER THE YEARS ON VARIOUS YOUTH BOARDS, FIRST COLONY, LITTLE LEAGUE, UH, CLEMONS BASEBALL, UM, WINE SAY OF, OF AUSTIN WAY BACK WHEN.

AND, UM, I BELIEVE THAT, UM, WHAT I WOULD BRING TO THE TABLE BEING ON THE PLANE ZONING COMMITTEE IS THAT WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO ME IS THAT W W WE LIVE IN A VERY UNIQUE AREA, UM, ORDERING HOUSTON, OBVIOUSLY A SUGARLAND.

UM, AND, AND WE HAVE, I THINK WE HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO

[01:00:01]

OURSELVES AND THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY TO MAKE SURE THAT MISSOURI CITY STAYS BEAUTIFULLY AESTHETICALLY, UM, THAT IT GROWS ORGANICALLY.

AND, UM, THAT THE PERCEPTION OF THE CITY IS A CITY OF, OF, OF BEAUTY.

UM, WE LIVE IN A GREAT AREA AND I THINK THAT AGAIN, AESTHETICALLY, WHEN SOMETHING LOOKS NICE AND WE HAVE PARKS TRAIL CITIES, IT, IT ATTRACTS, UM, HOMEOWNERS AND ATTRACTS BUSINESSES.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO JUST SEE THAT, UM, TO, TO SEE THAT KEEP HAPPENING IN, UH, W WITH THE PROPER ZONING AND NOT, NOT TOO MUCH BUILDING AND NOT, NOT ANY EYESORES THAT WOULD, UH, MAKE OUR CITY LESS ATTRACTIVE.

ALRIGHTY, THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YES.

HOW ARE YOU? I'M DOING QUITE WELL.

HOW ARE YOU? WELL, MY FIRST QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM IF CHOSEN TO SERVE IN THIS POSITION? WELL, I GUESS FIRST AND FOREMOST, I'D HAVE TO LEARN THE ROPES.

I'D LIKE, I'D LIKE TO GET WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AND GATHER AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE TO SEE HOW, YOU KNOW, GOING FORWARD.

I COULD BE A CONSENSUS BUILDER.

UM, HOW, UH, GOING FORWARD, YOU WOULD, THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS WOULD BE HOW, UM, WHEN YOU SPEAK TO POTENTIAL BUSINESS OWNERS, WHEN YOU SPEAK TO CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES, UH, DEVELOPERS, HAVE THEY TAKEN THE PROPER STEPS PRIOR TO COMING TO THE CITY, UH, TRYING TO WIN A CONTRACT OR TO BUILD SOMETHING, UM, HAVE THEY SPOKEN TO THE COMMUNITY? UM, HAVE THEY GOTTEN IDEAS FROM HR? HAVE THEY SPOKEN TO PEOPLE IN SIMILAR SITUATION? SO, UM, MY, MY GOAL WOULD BE TO, TO LEARN THE ROPES AND TO, TO GET AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE, UM, AND LEARN HOW TO, UM, MAKE SURE THAT OUR, WHAT OUR CITY GROWS AGAIN, UH, ORGANICALLY AS BEST AS POSSIBLE.

ALRIGHTY, THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBERS, STERLING.

THANK YOU, MR. COLLIN, FOR YOUR DESIRE TO SERVE, BUT I HAD NO QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU.

YOU ANSWERED MOST OF MY QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU.

YOU'RE VERY WELCOME.

GOOD EVENING, SIR.

UM, MY QUESTION IS, HAVE YOU ATTENDED A PLANNING AND ZONING MEETING? IF NOT, CAN YOU REFER TO MAYBE OF THE P AND Z ISSUES THAT MAY HAVE CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION? MOST RECENTLY, I HAVE NOT ATTENDED A MEETING.

NO.

UM, I DO APOLOGIZE.

I HAVE NOT ATTENDED A MEETING.

UM, I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND A MEETING IN PERSON WOULD BE NICE TO GET, SO WE GET THE FUEL SO TO SPEAK, OBVIOUSLY THAT HASN'T HAPPENED IN AWHILE.

I'M NOT SURE WHEN THAT'S GOING TO BETHANY IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

UM, ANY SPECIFIC ISSUES.

I CAN'T REALLY GIVE YOU ANY, ANY OFF PAN.

I, I JUST KNOW THAT I, EVERY TIME I DRIVE DOWN HIGHWAY SIX, EVERY TIME I GO TO ELKINS TO PICK UP MY SON, EVERY TIME I THERE THERE'S NEW DEVELOPMENT.

AND, UM, AND THERE, THERE THERE'S CONSTRUCTION ALL THE TIME AND IT, AND IT JUST ONE OF MY, I DON'T WANT TO SAY CONCERNS CAUSE THAT WOULDN'T BE, BUT ONE OF THE ISSUES THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO IS THAT AGAIN, THINGS ARE BEING DONE IN THE RIGHT WAY AND THAT, UM, OUR CITY STAYS, UM, ATTRACTIVE TO NOT ONLY OBVIOUSLY, UM, BUSINESS, NEW HOMEOWNERS AS WELL.

THANK YOU.

YES, SIR.

I DON'T KNOW IF THAT ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION, BUT HOPEFULLY IT DOESN'T COUNCIL MEMBER EMORY.

YEAH.

SO THANKS FOR MR. KOTLIN A QUESTION I HAVE.

WELL, FIRST OF ALL, THANKS FOR MOVING INTO QUAIL VALLEY.

WE, UH, WE NEED, UH, PEOPLE COMING IN FROM SUGAR LAND, SO THANK YOU.

YOU GOT TO DO MY PART.

WHAT SKILLS, UH, UH, WILL YOU BRING TO THE COMMITTEE? THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION.

I BELIEVE I'M A CONSENSUS BUILDER.

I, I PLAYED SPORTS MY WHOLE LIFE.

UM, I HAVE THREE SONS WHO ARE PRETTY GOOD ATHLETES.

UM, I I'VE BEEN, I'VE BEEN BLESSED TO COACH SOME GREAT YOUNG MEN OVER THE YEARS.

UM, FIRST TIME, UH, LITERALLY CLEMENS HIGH SCHOOL, UM, YOUTH BASKETBALL, WHATEVER IT MAY BE.

I BELIEVE THAT I'M PRETTY GOOD LISTENER.

UM, MY WIFE MAY NOT AGREE WITH THAT, BUT, UM, I, I BELIEVE THAT YOU TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, UM, DECIPHER THAT YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE, YOU CONSENSUS BUILD AND YOU, YOU LEAN ON PEOPLE WITH SOME KNOW-HOW.

AND, UM, I BELIEVE THAT BY DOING ALL THOSE THINGS, I'M ABLE BETTER TO COME UP WITH IDEAS, THOUGHTS, OR, YOU KNOW, DECISION THAT I CAN THEN BRING TO PEOPLE AND HOPEFULLY PUT ON THE TABLE FOR OTHERS TO THINK ABOUT DISCUSS AND, UH, AND IMPLEMENT.

GREAT.

THANKS.

ALL RIGHTY.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.

NO PROBLEM.

THANK YOU FOR COMING IN TO INTERVIEW WITH US AND WE WILL DEFINITELY GET BACK WITH YOU SHORTLY SHORTLY TO LET YOU KNOW WHO WE DECIDED TO PUT ON EACH BOARD AND COMMISSION.

ONCE AGAIN.

THANK YOU FOR COMING IN TO SEE EVENING

[01:05:01]

TO INTERVIEW WITH US.

YOU GOT TO THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME HAVE A GREAT ONE.

OKAY.

BYE-BYE BYE-BYE OKAY.

LET'S TRY MR. WILLIS AGAIN.

MR. WILLIS.

YES.

OKAY.

HI, MR. WILLIS, THIS IS AMIR FORD.

HOW ARE YOU DOING REAL GOOD.

HOW ARE YOU TODAY? I'M GOOD.

THANK YOU.

YOU WILL HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW.

UH, IF YOU CAN BRIEFLY TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU'D LIKE TO SERVE.

AND AT THAT POINT, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ASK YOU ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY MAY HAVE.

YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

OKAY.

FIRST OF ALL, MY NAME IS WILLY WILLIS.

I'VE BEEN A CITIZEN IN THE MISSOURI CITY FOR 32 YEARS.

UM, UH, FOR PROFESSION, UH, I AM A LIFE INSURANCE AGENT AND, UM, UH, I'VE DONE SEVERAL CIVIC DUTIES SINCE IN THE 32 YEARS UP IN HERE.

I USED TO SERVE ON MY, UH, UH, NEIGHBORHOOD, UH, HOA.

UM, I'VE WORKED ON CAMPAIGNS AROUND, UH, LET'S SAY, RIVER CITY AND, UM, YOU KNOW, AGAIN, UH, TO BE ABLE TO SERVE IS I THINK IS A PRIVILEGE.

OKAY.

ALRIGHTY.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YES, MY FIRST AND ONLY QUESTION IS WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM IF CHOSEN FOR THIS POSITION? WELL, UH, FIRST AND FOREMOST, I'VE NEVER SERVED AS A, UH, PLANNING ZONE.

SO IT'S, THIS WILL BE A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ME, BUT, UM, UH, YOU KNOW, AGAIN, I'VE BEEN HERE FOR 32 YEARS.

I'VE SEEN MISSOURI CITY GO FROM SMALL TO LARGE AND, UH, MY INTEREST WAS TO, YOU KNOW, CONTINUE TO SEE THAT PARTICULAR PROGRESS BE BORN.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER STERLING.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? NO.

THANK YOU, MR. LEWIS, FOR YOUR DESIRE TO SERVE COUNCILOR MORALIS.

HELLO, MR. WILLIS, HAVE YOU ATTENDED A PLANNING AND ZONING MEETING AND IF NOT, IS THERE A PARTICULAR PLANNING AND ZONING REFERENCE POINT THAT CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION IN MISSOURI CITY? UH, NO.

I HAVE NOT ATTENDED A MEETING.

YOU KNOW, THE, THE DECORATION, I GUESS, WOULD BE ONE, ESPECIALLY THE PARK HERE NEAR, UM, THE ESTHER, YOU KNOW, I CAN REMEMBER WE LOOKED LIKE LITTLE SWAMP OUT THERE AND OF COURSE NOW IT'S EVOLVED TO, UH, A REAL NICE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER, EMORY MR. WOLF.

THANKS AGAIN FOR, UH, APPLYING FOR THE POSITION.

WHAT SKILLS WOULD YOU GRIND TO THE A P AND GPU, UH, WERE SELECTED TO SERVE ON THE A P AND D BOARD? I WORKED, UH, YOU KNOW, AGAIN, LIKE I SAID, I WORKED ON THE, UH, ON MY HOA, UM, COMMUNITY.

UH, WELL, WE DID A LOT OF PLANNING AND THINGS FOR THE, UH, UH, QUILL GREEN, UH, COMMUNITY THERE, UH, SCHEDULING DIFFERENT, UH, UH, EVENTS AND WHATNOT.

UM, I'M A MEMBER OF A GROUP CALLED NOON PERTAINS HERE IN MISSOURI CITY.

AND, UH, IN THAT PARTICULAR SITUATION, UH, I HAVE, UH, SERVED AS A SECRETARY, VICE PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT.

SO, UH, I'M, UH, VERY FAMILIAR WITH, UH, YOU KNOW, POLYMETRIC PROCEDURES AND, UH, UH, UH, TAKING WHAT'S, UH, UH, GIVEN ME AND HELP ENSURE THAT THAT, UH, MOVED FORWARD.

THANK YOU, SIR.

[01:10:01]

RIGHT.

THANK YOU, MR. WILLIS, WE WILL GET BACK WITH YOU SHORTLY AND THANK YOU FOR COMING IN TO INTERVIEW WITH US HAVING ALRIGHTY.

ALRIGHTY, MARIA.

YES, MA'AM.

DID YOU GET A CALL FROM MR. RICHARDSON, MR. RICHARDSON? UM, I SENT HIM AN EMAIL AND I CALLED HIM TWICE.

HE DIDN'T PICK UP, BUT I LISTENED TO MESSAGES.

OKAY.

OKAY.

NO PROBLEM.

THANK YOU.

[01:15:07]

OKAY.

I'VE GOT MS. MARSHALL.

WELL, NO, MA'AM OKAY.

NO PROBLEM.

HI, MS. MARSHALL.

THIS IS MAYOR FORD.

HOW ARE YOU TODAY? I'M GOOD.

HOW ARE YOU MAYOR? I'M DOING WELL.

THANK YOU.

YOU WILL HAVE TWO MINUTES FOR YOUR INTERVIEW TODAY.

JUST BRIEFLY.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU LIKE TO KEEP SERVING ON THE PLANNING ZONING COMMISSION.

AND IF THE COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, THEY'LL ASK YOU THOSE QUESTIONS AND THAT'LL BE IT.

YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

UM, WELL, AS MAYOR FORD SAID, MY NAME IS SONYA BROWN.

MARSHALL.

I'M A 26 YEARS CITY OF MISSOURI CITY RESIDENT.

I'M A LICENSED TEXAS REALTOR AND I'M CURRENTLY THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER MARSHALL MANAGEMENT GROUP, INC A TO REAL ESTATE FIRM THAT PRIMARILY MANAGES NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATIONS AND SMALL MUNICIPALITIES.

UM, PRIOR TO STARTING MARSHALL MANAGEMENT GROUP, MY BACKGROUND INCLUDED SERVING AS A CORPORATE CONTROLLER, ACCOUNTING EXECUTIVE AND AN EX-PAT OFFICER FOR A LOT OF YEARS AGO.

UM, I TRULY BELIEVE THAT, UM, THE NUMBERS TELL A STORY.

AND SO IN TODAY'S TIME, I PRETTY MUCH USE MY ABILITY TO HELP THE ENTITIES TELL THEIR STORIES, ESPECIALLY FROM A FINANCIAL BACKGROUND OF IT.

AND THAT GIVES THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW AND TO HAVE SUSTAINABILITY FOR THE FUTURE, ESPECIALLY WHEN LOOKING AT THE HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION ASPECT SIDE OF IT, IF YOU WOULD, I'M A PROUD MOTHER TO ONE BIOLOGICAL SON AND TO ONE SON THAT CAME TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH US WHEN HE WAS 14 YEARS OLD AND HE NEVER LEFT.

BOTH ARE COLLEGE GRADUATES, ONE WITH A MASTER'S OF EDUCATION.

AND THE OTHER CURRENTLY SERVES THE FORT BEND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL.

AS A STUDENT FACILITATOR, I'M MARRIED TO RETIRED, SHERIFF'S DEPUTY ANTHONY MARSHALL.

AND WE ARE BOTH IN AGREEMENT THAT MISSOURI CITY WILL BE HOME FOR US FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.

SOME OF YOU GUYS MAY KNOW, I DON'T KNOW, I'VE, UH, SERVED ON THE COMMISSION FOR 16 YEARS.

UM, IN 2014, I BECAME THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.

UM, AND I'VE PRETTY MUCH STAYED IN THAT SAME CAPACITY.

I ENJOY SERVING.

I ENJOY, UH, TAKING A LOOK AT ALL OF THE PLANTS AND HELPING TO SHAPE THE CITY.

I LOOK FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO DO IT FOR A FEW MORE YEARS HERE TO COME.

IF YOU GUYS WILL HAVE ME.

THANKS.

THANK YOU, COUNCIL MEMBER EDWARDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YES, MA'AM.

I DO.

THANK YOU, MS. MARSHALL FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

HI, MY QUESTION TO YOU IS, UM, WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING TERM, IF CHOSEN TO CONTINUE TO SERVE IN THIS POSITION TO CONTINUE BEING OPEN-MINDED TO LISTEN, UH, TO THE APPLICANTS, HAVE TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE CITY, ESPECIALLY AS IT RELATES TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UNTIL THE GOALS AND STRATEGIES OF THE LAND USE MAPS AND TO HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, CONTINUE MOVING THE CITY FOR, FOR THE GREATER GOOD.

IF THAT MAKES SENSE, WHETHER IT'S ON OUR FOUR EAST SIDE, OUT ON OUR WEST SIDE, JUST KEEPING A BROAD OPEN MIND, CAUSE WE DO HAVE SOME LARGE ACRE TRACKS LEFT AND, UM, JUST WANT TO BE THERE TO MAKE SURE THAT I'M IN A POSITION WHERE I CAN HELP IN ANY WAY THAT I POSSIBLY CAN MAKE SURE THAT THEY GET DEVELOPED AND INTO SOMETHING GOOD COUNCIL MEMBER STERLING.

YES.

THANK YOU, MS. MARSHALL, FOR YOUR CONTINUING SERVICES, I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO READ YOUR RESUME TODAY.

UH, JUST ONE QUICK QUESTION.

UM, SINCE YOU'VE SERVED ON THE BOARD FOR QUITE SOME TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, UM, UH, ON THE BOARD, IN YOUR REASON FOR CONTINUING TO SERVE ONE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT? AT LEAST IT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT TO ME.

UM, MANY, MANY YEARS AGO, THE LAND THAT SITS UP THERE NEXT DOOR TO CITY HALL, THERE WAS A GROUP THAT CAME BEFORE US AND THEY WANTED TO DEVELOP A GAS STATION ON THAT LAND.

AND WITH EVERYTHING INSIDE OF ME, I VEHEMENTLY SAID, NO, NO, NO, NO.

WE'RE GOING TO PRESERVE THAT LAND.

SOMETHING WILL COME ONE DAY FOR THAT LAND.

AND THE VERY NEXT DAY, THE OWNER OF THAT LAND GAVE ME A TELEPHONE CALL

[01:20:01]

AND HE WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH ME AND HE LEFT AND HE ALSO TOLD ME, SWEETIE, I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT PIONEERS GET KILLED.

AND I SAID, WELL, I'LL KEEP THAT IN MIND, SIR.

WELL, I'M THANKFUL TO THIS VERY DAY THAT I BE ADMITTEDLY SAID NO AND ALSO REACHED OUT TO OTHERS AND ASKED THEM TO ALSO SAY NO, BECAUSE ON THAT VERY LAND NOW STANDS HOUSTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

AND I THINK THAT WAS A MUCH BETTER CHOICE THAN A GAS STATION.

WELL, THANK YOU THEN.

VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

YOU'RE SO WELCOME.

COUNCIL MEMBER REALISTS.

GOOD MORNING.

GOOD EVENING, MS. MARSHALL, HOW ARE YOU? HELLO? HOW ARE YOU? I'M GOOD.

I DON'T HAVE QUESTIONS, BUT I DO WANT
